Setting preference for com.apple.loginwindow to disable auto login in managed system

Ask Different Asked by Zohar81 on February 5, 2021

I was setting disable autologin manually using the following command
defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow DisableFDEAutoLogin -bool YES.

However, it didn’t read this new attribute so the login still perform the autologin after FileVault unlock.

I believe that when MDM software is installed like JAMF, than loginwindow load its configuration from a different plist file, any idea how to find this file ?

The motivation behind this request is to be able to try another 3rd party login plugin on a managed machine.

The client that uses this machine for POC doesn’t have access to the MDM console so I wish to override them in that specific machine.

P.S. I also looking for any indication from command line (so I can use it in scripts) to check if the setup is managed by MDM or not.

thanks !
