Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket problem

Did anyone experience this issue?

root@spmmktlxcrm002:~# tail -f /var/log/upstart/mysql.log

Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' exists!
