How to make Ubuntu read an SD card?

Ask Ubuntu Asked on November 28, 2021

I’ve got an SD card reader in my laptop (Ubuntu Focal Fossa).

I’ve inserted a Kingston SD memory adapter with a micro SD in it.

When I insert it I do hear a "pling" as if it were a USB stick.

It does not appear in the list of external drives, as when I connect a USD stick.

What should I do?

I did lsusb:

Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 005: ID 8087:0a2a Intel Corp.
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0bda:57ed Realtek Semiconductor Corp. USB2.0 VGA UVC WebCam
Bus 001 Device 008: ID 058f:6366 Alcor Micro Corp. Multi Flash Reader

Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

And then I did: sudo lsblk -f

I did do this suggestion: echo 1 | sudo tee /sys/bus/pci/rescan
