Preserving biochar micro-organisms

I am in the process of making biochar, this means producing charcoal with pyrolysis. I want to use it for agricultural purposes, so I need to activate it with microorganisms to produce inoculated biochar. My question is: would the micro-organisms within die if the inoculated biochar dries out?
