I'm considering removing SQL Server Partitioning from a Database. Is there anything I should watch out for?

Database Administrators Asked by user8440261 on October 28, 2021

I am considering removing SQL Server partitioning from a Table. I believe that it was implemented for performance reasons, which is not required due to the low volume of data involved. The version of SQL Server involved makes this require Enterprise Edition (where Standard Edition would have been sufficient) and the Application cannot be upgraded.

Are there any specific Partition-related keywords that might be in use that would cause problems (other than those involved in partition management)?

I have always seen SQL Server Partitioning as being transparent to the user queries, but wanted to see if I missed anything.

Many thanks for any thoughts / suggestions.
