Surface Laptop 1st Gen No Keyboard

I’m trying to make my wife switch to Linux and wanted to make the transition easy via elementary OS. I booted on the USB (I had to disable secure boot and Trusted Platform Module (TPM) apparently or it wouldn’t boot.

But my main issue is once I boot on the USB drive and try elementary everything works smoothly except the keyboard input doesn’t work at all.

The laptop is the Surface Laptop (1st Gen) – 256GB i5 8GB

Thanks for your help!
