ArduinoArduino keypad matrix w/ SPDT

I’m trying to create a keypad matrix with an Arduino. I want do a 5×5 grid but I’ve run into a problem. I’m using standard momentary SPST push buttons and 2 position SPDT toggle switches (On/Off) setup to switch columns in a row. The switches are the issue. Attached is a partial of my grid layout showing how the SPDT switches short the columns. Is there a way to fix this?
