Is it appropriate to use "I" multiple times in one sentence?

Consider the following sentences.

1. I want to say I like this book.
2. I have noticed I have a knack for problem solving.

They sound somewhat wrong to me. Are they grammatical and appropriate?

Is there way to say the same without using multiple "I"s in the same sentence?
