What is the proper way to use commas when addressing two or more people by placing their names at the start of the sentence?

English Language & Usage Asked by BrassApparatus on September 1, 2020

I frequently need to address multiple people in writing at work. This is usually done in a way that makes it convenient to at them all at once.

E.g.

@dale, @emily, please take a look at this and, if you approve, transition it to the next step.

Ben, Steve, I’d appreciate it if you could re-review this.

What’s the correct way to use commas (or conjunctions?) to address these people when there are more than one of them?
