Do all my layers need to have the same pixel type and pixel depth for an overlay analysis?

Geographic Information Systems Asked on June 22, 2021

I am doing an overlay analysis with different raster layers, that were once polygons, and some original raster layers.

I have resampled all my layers to have the same cell size or resolution, and now my question is: Do all my layers need to have the same pixel type and pixel depth before running the overlay analysis?

Some of my layers have a 32-bit depth and have floating-point whereas the others which are the polygons that I’ve converted to raster are 4 bit and unsigned integer.

Should I make them all the same pixel type and depth? And If yes how should I do this?

I am using ArcGIS.
