Use Esri Portal Sign-in page for ASP.NET?

Geographic Information Systems Asked by ejobrien on April 17, 2021

I have an ASP.NET application that is hosted on IIS that deals with map services and story maps.

I would like to federate it to an ArcGIS Portal that is federated to ADFS. I want to make it so whenever a user hits the site and is not signed into the portal, it will redirect to Portal to sign in and then back to the ASP.NET site with the user’s information. if they are signed in, then just redirect to the portal sign in and then back to ASP.NET with the security information.

I have followed the answer to the following question to achieve that, but the guide uses a custom View to sign in.

ArcGIS Portal use server-side obtained authorization in the client / JavaScript

My question is, is there a way to use the sign-in page that the Esri Portal already uses so that I don’t have to set up a new one? And can I use that to get the security information from the portal (I only need the username for records) using this method?
