Using reclassified raster to make contours, contours contain the class value instead of height value

I reclassified my raster to 12 classes and used the contour tool to make contours from there (they are much smoother). The issue is, the contour lines no longer contain the raster height, they contains the reclass class. I fully understand why this is happening but I was wondering if anyone has a solution or a work around so that my contour lines can still display height.
