Dishwasher causes GFCI outlet to trip

Home Improvement Asked by larin555 on January 10, 2021

I have a dishwasher that I’m connecting into wires in the dishwasher electric box in the dishwasher space. Thing is, when I connect the wires, and turn the breaker back on, the GFCI outlet above shows an orange light, and even though there is power (I checked with those little tools that beeps when there’s power running through wires), the dishwasher won’t turn on, and pressing the reset button on the outlet won’t do anything. It always resets back to the orange light.

I tried replacing the outlet for one that has 20A, but same issue. It seems that something is happening somewhere within that circuit that keeps causing issues.

When the dishwasher is not connected to those wires, that GFCI outlet works fine. It only shows the orange light when the dishwasher is connected.

Any ideas what it could be?

Here’s some photos.
