On Lead Conversion update Contact field

Salesforce Asked by Mahesh Raghuraman on January 1, 2021

Requirement: The registration date on Contact needs to be updated to Today() if lead is converted.

Process Builder Solution: In criteria, I checked isConverted and ConvertedContactID as not null, in Immediate Action, I tried to set registration date to Today for the “[Lead].Converted Contact ID” record.

Issue: It is only working for new contacts during lead conversion but if you chose existing contact then it does not update the date value in Contact.

Is there any simple way to stamp for existing contacts as well?

In Spring'18, I have noticed PB is capable of recognizing and updating existing contact upon lead creation. So you can update the field in contact (irrespective of new or existing) with current date and NO extra flow is required for such operation.

Below solution was recommended by SFDC support:

To overcome the process builder limitation of not finding the existing contact ID on conversion, I have to use flow.

Process Builder: Fires on lead conversion and passes the ConvertedContactID to Flow.

Flow: Will query the contact, check if the registration date is null then stamp the current date.

Please let me know if you need me to share the code.
