Zoom / Scale down the entire visualforce page when rendered as pdf

Question

I'm trying to scale down the entire pdf generated from VF page using rederAs="pdf".

Using transform: scale(0.9) works only when page is not rendered as PDF, when rendered as PDF this attribute seems to be ignored. Adding !important does not help.

zoom: 0.9 does not work either...

Does anyone have any suggestions ?

I think I just got the bottom of it and possibly there is no way to do this...

The reason for ignoring transform and zoom css properties is that Salesforce most probably uses Flying Saucer pdf renderer, which only support CSS 2.1, while both properties were introduced in CSS 3.0.
