How are the payments handled (be it prize money, franchisee cost) for international sportspeople?

I am wondering more from the logistics around how the taxation is taken care of , do the sportsperson or their manager take care of this or is this handled by agencies and how much do they charge for this ? It would be helpful to get few names of different agencies (if any) who take care of this.
