Driver problems with linux/config.h

Super User Asked by Maxi Kirsch on November 30, 2020

I have a problem installing a driver on Ubuntu 20.10. For a small project I wanted to use a SATA PCI Card for additional SATA slots (LogiLink PC0005A SATA PCI Card). However, I can´t use this module, since the driver isnt installed. When I try ‘make’ in the directory of the driver, as it says in the readme file, the following error occurs:

    In file included from viapubraid.c:21:
viapubraid.h:5:10: fatal error: linux/config.h: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden
    5 | #include <linux/config.h>
      | ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
compilation terminated.
make: *** [Makefile:73: viapubraid.o] Fehler 1

I don´t know much about this topic, but as I found out, this driver doesn´t fit my kernel(5.0.8) since the driver is made for version 2.4! Therefore it can´t find the linux/config.h file.
I tried to work around it by giving it another path to some configfs.h file. Nothing worked so far. Looking forward for your help
