Error: Cannot write subtitles file for SRT files

Super User Asked by Computer on November 26, 2020

Windows 10 + all updates as of today.
Running latest version of youtube-dl

I have ran the command to update so have the latest version

I have the below command

for %%a in (%*) do (
.youtube-dl.exe ^
--username "username" ^
--password "password" ^
%%a ^
-o "D:/myDir/Videos/Video/%%(playlist)s/%%(chapter_number)02d - %%(chapter)s/%%(playlist_index)02d - %%(title)s.%%(ext)s" ^ --sleep-interval 35 ^
--max-sleep-interval 120 ^
--sub-lang en ^
--sub-format srt ^
--write-sub ^
--ignore-errors
)

I receive the error

ERROR: Cannot write subtitles file D:myDirectoryAaaaaa bbbbbb - ccccccc ddd eeeeeeeeeeanother directoryanotherDirectoryAnotherDirectoryFile.srt

So added the command --ignore-errors but this isnt doing what i expected (Some 403 errors and the account gets locked)

So the path is pretty long and i cant figure out

  1. How to skip this file and continue with the next one?
  2. Or if the error might be due to the length of characters in the filename or path how i could shorten them?
  3. Just skip any srt files?

Could anyone provide some guidance please.
