How to do texhash on texlive 2020 installed on Ubuntu 2018 LTS so VS code can recognize personal style files?

TeX - LaTeX Asked by Amir Tadayon on April 25, 2021

I’ve recently installed TexLive 2020 on my Ubuntu 18.04 LTS machine. I’ve completed all instructions mentioned here. I’ve created a couple of personal .sty files where I put in the directory /usr/local/texlive/texmf-local/tex/latex/local/. When I do texhash I receive the following message.

texhash

when I do sudo texhash, I get

sudo texhash

Typing which texhash results in /usr/local/texlive/2020/bin/x86_64-linux/texhash.
Please let me know if there is anyway that I can use my own .sty to compile my .tex files in VS code.
