XeLaTeX: Use font metric of not installed font

TeX - LaTeX Asked by chan1142 on July 17, 2021

I use XeLaTeX. I have only free FontA.otf (say) installed on my system. The other computer has expensive FontB.otf (say), too. The final output is to be produced on the other computer using FontB.otf. Before that I would like to check the layout of the future outcome on my system. Can I create a PDF with metrics for FontB.otf (but with actual fonts of FontA.otf)?

I think I can have a one-time access to FontB.otf on the other system and run codes to get the font metrics for FontB.otf. If this is possible, what would I have to do?

I cannot copy FontB.otf to my system due to legal issues. Purchasing FontB.otf is not an option because there are too many "me"s.

What could I do? Thank you.
