Kernel 5.4.0-58-generic ,Lenovo T495 laptop freeze when Linux Mint 20 boot without power supply connected

Unix & Linux Asked by Gilles Quenot on February 15, 2021

When I try to boot without power supply, it fails.

I have to plug the power supply to make it works.

I don’t have any debug message, because when the OS freeze, the Mint box ping, but is out.

For information, my laptop is a Lenovo T495. It’s not a old model like in this answer.

And when I choose in the rescue mode, it works. So it’s really a software issue, not a hardware issue like @Terdon said in the other post

One Answer

The solution: adding iommu variable to grub:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="iommu=soft quiet splash"

in

/etc/default/grub
