Permission denied Issue running the ^H command from within VisiData

Unix & Linux Asked by teepee on February 1, 2021

I am running WSL on Windows and successfully installed VisiData, which is for viewing and manipulating csv data. (I am using Debian.) It is mostly working, except for the command ^H which is meant to show you a help menu. When I try the command nothing happens, and after exiting the program I see a printout for each attempt that says sh: 1: man: Permission denied. I am new to Linux and am not sure where to look to diagnose the problem.

I have tried installing VisiData both directly into Linux (sudo apt-get install visidata) and in a virtual python environment (pip3 install visidata) and am having the same problem each time.

Any insights would be helpful.
